総門の特徴
吉祥山や金戒光明寺からの石畳が印象的です。
朱色の美しい総門が訪問者を魅了します。
敷居のない赤門は神々の通り道との伝承があります。

真如堂は、正式には鈴聲山真正極楽寺（れいしょうざん しんしょうごくらくじ）といい、永観2年（984年）に戒算上人が開創した、比叡山延暦寺を本山とする天台宗のお寺です。「極楽寺と名乗る寺は多いが、ここが正真正銘の極楽の霊地」という意味を込めて名づけられ、その本堂を表す「真如堂」が通称として定着しました。衆生済度、特に女性をお救いくださる「うなずきの弥陀」を御本尊にまつっており、浄土宗の開祖・法然上人や浄土真宗の開祖・親鸞聖人をはじめとする行者や、多くの人々の祈りを受けとめてきました。広い境内は紅葉の名所として親しまれていますが、桜や青もみじ、季節の草花による彩りも美しく、一年を通じて散策を楽しんでいただけます。江戸時代に再建された天台様式の本堂や三重塔などの建造物、阿弥陀如来立像をはじめとした仏像・文化財を数多く所蔵しています。いつ訪れても清澄な空気が漂う、洛東の隠れ寺です。（真如堂HPより）紅葉が綺麗な好きなお寺の一つです。真如堂 総門元禄8年（1695年）完成。真如堂西側の神楽岡（吉田神社）の神々が夜にお参りに来る際につまずかないように敷居がないとされています。赤門と呼ばれて親しまれています。〔京都府指定文化財：江戸時代〕（真如堂HPより）Shinnyodo, officially called Reishozan Shinsho Gokurakuji, is a Tendai sect temple whose head temple is Enryakuji on Mt. Hiei, founded by Kaisan Shonin in 984. ``There are many temples that call themselves Gokuraku-ji, but this is the true sacred place of paradise,'' and the name ``Shinnyodo,'' which refers to its main hall, became a common name. The principal image of worship is ``Nodding Mida,'' which saves all sentient beings, especially women, and is the site of the prayers of many people, including Buddhist monks such as Honen Shonin, the founder of the Jodo sect, and Shinran Shonin, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect. I have accepted it.The large precincts are popular as a famous spot for autumn leaves, but the cherry blossoms, blue maple leaves, and seasonal flowers are also beautifully colored, making it a place you can enjoy strolling through all year round. 真如堂の総門。観光バスが入れないため、観光客少なく、落ち着いた雰囲気。春は桜、秋は紅葉が楽しめるが、境内は広くないため、見どころは少ない。
真正極楽寺の総門は伽藍の西端、本堂の正面に建つ丹塗りの四脚門で元禄8年（1695）に中門として建立された門が現在地に移築されたと推定されているそうです。
総門の朱、紅葉の真紅、花嫁さんの赤い着物、華やかで素晴らしいご夫婦になられる予感のする１枚が撮れました。
通称、赤門と呼ばれているそうで、敷居が無いのは、向かいの神楽岡の神々が毎夜参拝に訪れる際に躓かない為との伝承があるとの事です。
元禄8年（1695年）完成。敷居がないのは吉田神社の神々が夜に来る際、つまずかないようにだとされる。

周辺のオススメ
吉田山や金戒光明寺や岡崎神社から来ると、ここが入口に成るのかな?私はバスの「真如堂」「錦林車庫」から「東門」に来るので帰りに振り返るとこの風景。
