高雲寺の特徴
雲ケ畑中畑町にある高雲寺の創建は869年で、歴史があります。
塔頭には手描きの高麗高たの般若像が安置され、貴重な宝物です。
松上の火祭りが行われる、雲ケ畑地域の重要な仏教寺院です。
Kouunji Temple 高雲寺Soon after crossing the bridge of Deaibashi to the left along Kumogahata River you will come to a temple with a stone manument in a form of a symbolic classic coin of Japan with its name inscripted. This one is called Kouunji Temple founded by Prince koretaka in 869. It belongs to Rinzai sect of Buddhism. This is a place the prince used to live secetly after he left Imperial house. Today this is one of the two temples where the ritual of Matsuage Bon Fire ( It is made in a shape of a particular kanji character of the year ) is held in Kumogahata. The ritual is held by Atago Cult. The temple also holds some treasures inside such as hand drawn image of Koretaka hannya ( ogre ). The main object of worship is Shaka Nyorai. 高雲寺（こううんじ）、臨済宗永源寺派、山号は九龍山、本尊は釈迦牟尼。この地は文徳天皇の第一皇子・惟高親王が閑居した高雲御所があったと伝わる。869年、惟高親王は出家して本寺を創建。毎年8月24日、愛宕信仰の献火行事「雲ヶ畑松上げ」が行われる２つの寺のうちのひとつです。( Trans-word+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )
