銀座の柳四世 4th Generation Ginza WillowA tiny 'park'? with a small stone monument bearing a haiku by 松尾芭蕉 Matsuo Bashō.菊の花咲くや石屋の石の間Chrysanthemums blooming among the stones of the stone maker.There is also an informational plaque celebration the mysterious ukiyo-e artist, 東洲斎 写楽 Tōshūsai Sharaku. His 140 known prints of Kabuki \u0026 Noh performers and sumo wrestlers were published over an eight month period. Some believe Sharaku may have been the Noh actor, 斉藤十郎兵衛 Saitō Jūrobei who lived in the Hatchbori neighborhood of Tokyo.In addition to Sharaku, mention is made of Japan's famed cartographer \u0026 surveyor (using modern methods) of Japan, 伊能忠敬 Inō Tadataka who died in Hatchobori. There is a magnificent statue of Tadataka in the precincts of Tomioka Hachimangu (near Monzen Nakacho Station).The Tokyo National Museum in Ueno exhibits some of his maps.
