I had the most incredible WWOOFing experience at this amazing farm. Initially, I was a bit nervous about staying at a Japanese farm, but the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality that all my worries melted away. The farmers were like family, making me feel right at home from the very beginning. As a WWOOFer, I participated in various tasks like cleaning chicken eggs, making chicken feed, feeding the chickens, and a lot of weeding. It was hard work, but incredibly rewarding. I also had the unique opportunity to join their monthly farmers market, and join in a summer festival with fireworks! It was unforgettable.I learned so much during my time there. From attending a natto workshop to participating in a workshop on creating electricity from soil and cow's manure, I was constantly amazed by the innovative and sustainable practices the town was implementing. The food was another highlight. Despite the simple ingredients, the farmers prepared the most delicious soups and meals. We also took turns cooking, allowing me to share some of my Singaporean recipes with them. On special occasions, we would venture out to the supermarket to stock up on ingredients for even more exciting meals.I also had the pleasure of sharing the guesthouse with a friendly 62-year-old man. Despite the language barrier, we had a blast talking, playing cards, and enjoying a few beers together. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with someone from a different culture.Overall, my WWOOFing experience in Mattary Farm was absolutely incredible. I've never felt closer to Japanese people, and I'm already planning my return trip. This is a truly special place, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful and unforgettable adventure.
