山陽道一里塚跡(姫路市下手野)江戸時代の初め慶長9年(1604)から、主な街道に一里塚が設けられるようになった。約4km毎に、道の両側にエノキ、松などの木を植え、土を盛って作った。山陽道(西国街道)では姫路市内にここ(下手野)と西御着の2か所に設けられ、明治時代まで高さ約2mの塚が残っていた。平成25年9月 姫路市教育委員会Sanyodo Ichirizuka Ato (Site of Milestone on the Sanyo Road)Since the beginning of the Edo period (1604), Ichiriuka mounds (milestones) were constructedon the main streets. At an interval of approximately four kilometers, chiricuka mounds (milestoneswere formed by planting Japanese hackberries and pine trees on tbe mounds of earth. T wo moundswere formed on the Sanyo Road (the fornet Saigoku Kaido Road) in Himeji; one here atShimoteno, and the other at Nishigochaku. The mounds, about two meters high, remaineduntil the Meiji period
