いの門からぬの門を経て大天守へ向かう道を下道といいます。をの門は、下道の最初の門になります。門は高麗門形式で、その横にリの櫓がありました。をの門からぬの門までの間は一つの大きな桝形空間を形づくっており、下道における防御の要となっています。をの門とリの櫓は、明治１５年 (1882) ２月に失火によって焼失しました。The path that makes its way from the I-no Mon ( I Gate ) via the Nu-no-Mon ( Nu Gate ) to the Main Keep is known as the lower road. The O-no-Mon ( O Gate ) is the first gate on the lower road. The gate was made in the Korai Mon style and sat beside the Ri-no Yagura ( Ri Tower ). The area between the O-no-Mon ( O Gate ) and the Nu-no Mon ( Nu Gate ) forms a large masugata ( a space where soldiers would assemble ) , which formed the linchpin in the defense of the lower road.Both the O-no-Mon ( O Gate ) and the Ri-no Yagura ( Ri Tower ) burned down in an accidental fire in February 1882.
