ワグネル広場の特徴
ワグネル博士顕彰碑が印象的で、訪れる人を惹きつける公園です。
銀杏の大木に囲まれた児童公園では、楽しく遊べる遊具があります。
有名バンドアニメの舞台として知られ、独自の魅力を感じられます。

滑り台や、鉄砲、ブランコなどがあります。また自動販売機もあるので安心です。よくここで、太極拳をやってらっしゃいます。楽しそうですね。

周辺のオススメ
公園の名称の由来となっている「ワグネル博士顕彰碑」があります。ワグネル博士顕彰碑ワグネル(Gottfried Wagener，1831～92)はドイツの化学者で，明治初期のお雇い外国人。明治元年に来日し大学南校で教授し，明治11年京都府に招かれ舎密局に着任し，同局に新設された化学校で教授した。陶磁器，七宝，石鹸，ガラス等の製造を指導し，京都の産業近代化に貢献した。この碑はワグネルの業績を顕彰するもので，大正13年3月20日から同5月20日まで岡崎公園で開催された東宮殿下御成婚奉祝万国博覧会参加五十年記念博覧会に際し建立された。なおワグネルの姓はよくWagnerと記されるが，この碑の肖像下の署名や，東京青山墓地の墓石に照らしてもWagenerが正しい。建立年 1924年 建立者 京都市寸 法 高390×幅880×奥行125（京都市）There is a monument to honor Dr. Wagner, which is the origin of the name of the park.Dr. Wagner MonumentWagner (Gottfried Wagener, 1831-92) was a German chemist who was a hired foreigner in the early Meiji period.
