A pleasant and not too taxing hike up to the summit of Aboshiyama will take less than 2 hours staring from Choju-ji Temple. About 10 minutes from the summit, be sure to take take a short detour to a look out point, where you can get a great view of Lake Biwa in the distance. There is a communications tower at the summit, as well as a Shigaraki Tanuki :-)You can come back on the same route or take the downhill trail that leads to Joraku-ji Temple.
